I figured it out!

I finally figured out how to add a playlist to my blog, and I did it at 11:00 pm when I should be sleeping. Hope you enjoy this VERY random mix of songs.

Just wanted to update all of my loyal followers! I took my first brain injury test today, and I think I did okay! YAY!! Now, I just need to get on the ball and start writing this paper that is due at midnight (8 and 1/2 hours to go!) I have heard it is pretty challenging, so just keep on with those prayers! After tomorrow, the rest of the week is a breeze! Then, we are on our way to Atlanta!!!!

I'm not sure that I have posted about this yet, but for Christmas Clayton got us tickets to go to the Bodies exhibit and to the Cirque du Soleil show, Kooza!!! Instead of just driving down for the day, we have decided to make a weekend of it, get a hotel room, go shopping, go to some really nice restaurants, and just spend some much needed quality time together. I am so excited and have been jumping around the house for weeks just thinking about it! I love spending time with all of my friends, but sometimes, it is nice to just get away with my husband and not have to share each other!

Pictures will definitely be posted after this weekend (but probably not of Bodies because I don't think it's allowed and some of you may get sick!)

50th post!

Hope everyone had a great Monday and didn't have a case of the MUUNDAYS, haha! I don't have a lot of time to spend on this post because I should be studying for my brain injury test that is tomorrow, but I have to brag again. I know... I bragged on my last post, but since this is my blog, I have the right to brag everyday (although I wouldn't do that!) As all of the people who are close to me have repeatedly heard, the next two weeks are crazy for me, in terms of school. This week is busy with tests, papers, and preparing for THE presentation. Yes, the presentation that I have been mentioning in almost every post for the past 2 months. Then next week, I will be presenting this presentation, along with taking 2 tests.... Needless to say, these next two weeks are just crazy for me. As a result, I have been a little testy with everyone (sorry to whomever I have jumped on or seemed short with! Just bare with me a little longer!) I have been extremely testy to my sweet and loyal husband, who just keeps trying to kill this nervousness with kindness and love. Tonight, he walked in with this absolutely gorgeous gift:
I truly do not deserve all of the sweet things he has done for me lately..... but I sure won't complain either! If any of you get a second in the next two weeks, please pray for my sanity and that all of my nervousness will be wiped away.

Hope you all have a great week!

Sweetest Husband!

I hate to brag, but I really do have the sweetest husband in the world! I have had a sort of hard day and we had been bickering a little this morning (the pipes froze again!) When he walked in the door, he came home with a hug, a kiss, and this:
This man can read my mind! I love you Angel!! Thanks again!

Stepped over that hump...

This weekend went from bad to so great! If you read my post on the Joys of Winter, you will understand how our weekend started off. Let's just say that my "shower" on Friday involved me using every large pot to boil the small amount of water that we had. Once it was boiled, it was dumped into the bathtub, where I proceeded to take a luxurious bubble bath, haha. Needless to say, I woke up on Saturday morning with a sore throat and feeling not so good.

As of Saturday afternoon around 12, we heard/saw the most beautiful sight in the world. Take a look (and please ignore my double jointed thumb.)
We were so lucky because all of the pipes unthawed without any of them cracking or bursting! That was a MUCH needed answer to a prayer.
*Lesson learned: insulate all pipes underneath your house, even if you THINK the builder did that before you moved in. Also, when people tell you to let the water drip at night, it is always better to let all sinks drip, instead of one.

While Clayton was busy working on the house, I spent my Saturday afternoon doing hours of school work and working on the most important powerpoint of my life. If you are confused of what this powerpoint may be, refer back to previous posts. Saturday night, Clay and I had a much needed date night. We both were feeling a little under the weather, so we decided to stay in and cook a new recipe (beef enchiladas- which were INCREDIBLE!) and Butterfinger cake (which was only okay.) Afterwords, we watched Grey's Anatomy from this week and a movie. Yes, we may be lame, but we had so much fun together!

On Sunday, we went grocery shopping and decided to make a short stop at Lowe's and Hobby Lobby. I was looking for some decorative pedastle things, but instead, found this GREAT FIND!We have a butler's pantry that has been desperately needing some glass shelves for wine glasses and bar stuff. We have been putting off buying these shelves for almost a year and a half because we were afraid it was going to be fairly expensive. Either we were given some false information or we are just stupid, but this was one of the cheapest projects we have done thus far. I even took a picture at the damage so you can see for yourself! And get this....They were 50% off!!! So each iron stand was $3! We got 4, but decided we are going to go back and get 2 more. We only spent $13.05 on the really nice and heavy wrought iron stands, and estimate only spending anothe $20-30 on the actual glass. This was definitely a highlight of the weekend!

The BIG highlight of the weekend came in the form of the best hand-me-down that I could ever ask for. A sewing/embroidery machine! My Nana just moved to a new place and decided that she doesn't have any room for this baby and her hands hurt her too bad to sew anymore. Sooo, I am the lucky recipient. Check it out!

It is a Husqvarna Viking Prisma 990... Umm, I don't have any idea what that means, but I am excited to learn. I also was given boxes and boxes of sewing equipment, hundreds of thread colors, buttons gallore, and tons of books. Now.... I just need to learn how to turn the dang thing on, haha! I have decided that I am going to take a few, free sewing classes at this place in Homewood. Does anyone out there know ANYTHING about sewing? I am also curious as to how I can buy a monogramming program, but the sewing machine doesn't have a jump drive or anything?

Hope you all had as great of a weekend as we did. No, we didn't do anything fancy or special, but we had the best time just being together!

The Joys of Winter

When people tell you to leave a faucet dripping when it gets very cold, make sure you actually leave all of your faucets going at a steady stream of water. If you don't, you might end up with frozen pipes.......and a husband that doesn't make it into work until 10:00..........and still hasn't "unfrozen" the pipes. Good thing that I took a shower last night and straightened my hair or I would not be leaving the house tonight. Clayton washed his hair, body, and shaved using water from water bottles that were boiled over the stove. I guess this is what it was like "in the olden days." Clayton called a plumber, but we decided that we don't want to waste the money on unfreezing the pipes when we can just suck it up. Please throw up some good vibes that Clay will be able to fix our little problem tomorrow.

I know I will be laughing about this later in life, but not today. Nope.... not today!

The much anticipated new sheets!

Okay, so I figured after my last, short post, all of you would be DYING to see our new sheets. =) So instead of working on my portfolio presentation power point (which is, by far, the most important thing I have or will do in grad school....which is the main determinant of whether I graduate from OT school.... which is worth 1000, not 100, points) I decided to take pictures of this marvelous find for all of you! Please enjoy because I sure as heck have been!
They just go perfectly with the bedding and the wall color. It's like they were made for our bedroom!
Ohh! Please excuse that I forgot to tuck in the quilt at the bottom of the bed! I was just so excited to load these pictures that I just rushed making up the bed!

You know you are an old married person when...

You get excited to wash your newly purchased set of sheets and put them on your bed.......Nooo... not me! =)

The Time has Come...

Well, after close to a month break, it is officially time to start back to school. As I was taking a luxurious bath this afternoon, in between reading a new book I just started and listening to some relaxing music... I know, be jealous =), I started thinking about my feelings on this reintroduction into a scheduled life. I truly have mixed emotions on going back to school. For one, I am sad because I won't have all of this time off to spend with family and friends. I also can't sleep until 10:00 anymore and go to bed at 1:30! Lastly, I really think I am a nicer and calmer person when I'm not in school. I find time to help Clayton cook dinner, spend extra time with the dogs, and actually make blog posts!

However, I really am happy that I am going back too. I have missed some of my great friends that are also in the OT program. These girls really have helped me stay sane throughout the grad school process. I also am anxious to get back into a routine and feel like I am doing something other than being a lazy bum! Finally, starting back to school means a continuation with Clayton and my life. We are so ready for the next steps that life throws at us, and this can only happen with me graduating OT school, getting a job, and making some money.

Isn't it funny how something so small can make you sit for almost 30 minutes and register such a mix of emotions? I love that God grants us these many opportunities that really make us sit back and think about where life is headed. This return back to normalcy (is this even a word?) is just one of those blessings!

Completely changing topics, does anyone out there have a husband that knows a thing or two about grouting tile/sealing grout? Also, what about putting weather stripping on a door? This "gift" of rain for the past 3 days has made it evident that we need to fix a few things in our mud room! All suggestions and help will be greatly appreciated since the man of the Hollinhead house keeps forgetting! Maybe I will take on this job this weekend!! Have a great rest of the week!

I put it off as long as I could!!

Yes, today is January the 3rd and I am just now taking down our Christmas decorations. I just didn't have the heart to take them down before now. I really think I waited this long because the house just looks plain empty without festive, Christmas decorations. Me and Mom were talking about this yesterday, actually, and we both think that the minute you take down decorations, your house just looks dull and empty. Does anyone else feel this way?

Well, one good thing about taking down decorations is getting to do a deep clean on your house again. I know.... that totally doesn't sound fun for most people, but for me, I LOVE to clean and organize. I had the best time reorganizing all of our Christmas decorations and labeling them. THEN I got to have an even better time redecorating the house and cleaning the furniture. I didn't do anything really drastic, but while redecorating, I put around new picture frames, hung new wall decorations in our bedroom and in the dining room, and put around some new accessories that we received for Christmas. I'm pretty pleased with the way everything looks now!

So how about that Alabama game? Wow, what a disappointment! We went over to our good friends, Melissa and Hunter Echols, to watch the game with some other fun friends. Although we lost the game, we had a great time, as always, cooking out, gossiping, and just having fun! Thanks again for a great night!

As I speak, Clayton and one of his friends/coworkers are working on my car. The emissions light has been on for a few weeks and it was determined that my car needed a new O2 sensor and some type of valve (I forgot what it is!!) The dealership estimated that it would cost $600!!!! Clay decided that he could do it himself for $200, to which I said DEFINITELY YES. They have been out there for awhile and it seems that they are having some trouble.... Let's just all say a little prayer that they don't blow our car up. =)

Hope everyone is having a great and lazy Saturday!
